written by ThePledge - 20.05.2010 - 09:43Lineup changes in the Stinson Edition Vertex Stinson Edition

Hello everyone!

Ever since the first announcement here on this very website, the latest Vertex squad has been struggling to get their lineup sorted. Now, about two months and four days later, we believe we have the situation sorted out. Let me give you a quick update on the changes in our roster!

Over the past month, a total of four positions in the lineup have changed. Denmark Dusty and Finland Pena are the only ones who have stayed at their respective classes, and Netherlands ThePledge has decided to go back to his first love in tf2 : playing scout. Unfortunatly, Wales Sigh had to focus on real life issues, and Malta sparkLe 's playtime got reduced, which meant that we had two more places open in the squad. Wales Sigh will still remain in the squad, but he told us that he might join a div 6 team as fulltime pyro soon. sparkle will be on the lookout to join another team at a division 2 level as scout. From this place, I'd like to thank them both for their team in my squad, and I wish them the very best smiling

Our replacement for Wales Sigh was found very quickly. Norway wer , a very experienced soldier and excellent player, decided to join us. I'm hoping Norway wer enjoys his time in the squad and I'm hoping we can improve rapidly with his help and experience.
At that moment, we had a stable lineup, but there were some annoyances considering Paging Dr Lupus, who played scout in our team, next to sparkle. After trialling other people for some time, we decided it was the best to replace him as well. We took in the famous England D2M , well known as the man behind Team Vertex and the ETF2L Head Admin. I'd like to wish DrLupus the best of luck in the future, and I'd like to welcome d2m into our squad!

At that moment, about two weeks ago, the only thing we were looking for, was a stable medic. We were looking for a caller, as I was a caller-medic myself, and we believe we've found him after a week of trialling medics. Please give a round of applause for England _Ben , an English medic who will be attending i40 with us as well. I believe he is the right medic for us and that we can achieve great results with this renewed lineup.

To summarise, the new Vertex - Stinson Edition lineup:

England _Ben (medic)
Denmark Dusty (demoman)
Finland Pena (soldier)
Norway wer (soldier)
Netherlands ThePledge (scout)
England D2M (scout)

The7alfa (backup scout/sniper)
Netherlands Comedian (backup scout)

Poland Revan (inactive soldier)
Wales Sigh (inactive soldier)

Once again, I'd like to welcome all the new people to the squad, and I hope we can improve rapidly over the summer months! smiling

Sincerely,
Mr. Fuchs (thanks d2m!)

As you guys could read in D2M's latest newspost, Team Stinson has joined the Vertex community under the name Team Vertex - Stinson Edition. My name is Netherlands ThePledge and as some of you might know me, I'd like to introduce me and my team and express our feelings this commitment we made.

8 months ago, in September 2009, I decided that, as a scout from mid+ and capable of playing division 1 at ETF2L, the TF2 community needs more top teams. My plan was to create a squad with 5-6 other players, and train them up from the mid- level they were, to a stable mid+ level. This basically means that I had to teach them about every class, communication, positioning and basic/advanced tactics. It also meant that we had to start in Division 4, as an outsider. Back then; Wales Sigh , Netherlands Comedian , Denmark Dusty and The7alfa were already playing under my lead. Not much later, Finland Pena joined as well. Since that is still pretty much our lineup, it shows our stability and these players' dedication to improving and to TF2 in general.

After 3 months, we decided our medic's annoyances with Wales Sigh were taking its toll, and we had to say goodbye to our first medic. As I needed a challenge myself, I changed from scout to medic, with the idea of my comms working better that way. Unfortunately, it left a huge gap in the scouts' departement, which still hasn't really been fixed. Ex-Vertex2 player Ireland Paging Dr Lupus is our latest addition, but he _might_ function as our general backup instead, as he is able to play all classes to a reasonable level.

We decided to join Vertex a couple of days ago, since we feel a connection with the Vertex1 team, and I've mixed around with Vertex2 and they are a bunch of friendly guys as well. We got to keep our tag and name, in some way, which was the most important thing for us. We feel delighted that we get to be a part of this community and we are confident that with our help, the Vertex community can even grow further and go up the ranks in the top divisions of TF2. Also, I might be of some use for the Vertex3 team to help them out at problems they might run into, since I've done that 7 months ago already smiling

So far, Team Stinson has played 3 games in ETF2L Division 3A, of which 2 losses and 1 win. The week 1 loss was somewhat expected, as we had loads of roster problems, but the week 3 loss last week was a very tough one. Losing two maps in the last seconds against YES! Team, while playing them later in a PCW and rolling them completely on the same maps. It feels like the thing that happened to the main Vertex team against Fragmative last week. Guess we both have a lot to learn!

We'd all like to thank Team Vertex for giving us this oppurtunity. You guys are great and we are very happy to be a part of the community! smiling

written by D2M - 16.03.2010 - 12:11Vertex Community Update Vertex Stinson Edition

Quite a few things have happened since we last posted a news post on the site. Since I don't want to write an essay, I'll try and be reasonably brief amused

The Vertex first team dropped out of WPTF2L after 4 games, as it wasn't a particularly fun league for us to play in. We were unaware that players who had been considered banned in ETF2L would be playing against us, and also it just seemed that every time we played a match there was an issue with people's connections or the server and the whole WPTF2L system wasn't sitting well with us. Therefore we made the decision to drop from the league and concentrate our efforts elsewhere.

In ETF2L so far, the Vertex first team have beaten Gspot and Grognasse (who have since dropped), and on Sunday we hilariously lost to Fragmative. A bit of a wake-up call, that we can't smash the hell out of a team in PCWs repeatedly and expect them to roll over in a league game, even if we are playing badly.

Vertex2 have been playing very strongly recently, beating Yes! in the ESH cup yesterday evening to progress into the 2nd day. Unfortunately this is probably where they will get destroyed by a Div1 team, but we can be very proud of their progress. Well done guys! smiling In ETF2L, they've been playing strongly and are currently well placed in Division 4D with 2 wins against [DA] and Restricted Area, and recently a draw against Herb's Army. If they continue their good form and work, they should finish in the top 2 teams in their division easily.

Vertex3 have had a tricky start to their fledgling careers, but this is mainly down to the fact that most of them have not spent a long time playing with each other. It will take time for the players to gel and to form partnerships that will devastate their opposition amused Looking at their recent results, they won their first competitive game in the Ladder - which was great for them. In the league it's been a predictably slow start with 3 losses and the most recent result which was a draw against Digital Wrath Esports.

All of our teams are working hard and 2010 is looking like it will be a great year!

But wait...there's more! Perhaps it might even explain why the top of this news post has a weird orange Vertex logo on it. Since none of our team use orange colours do they? Oh yes they do amused

It gives me great pleasure to announce the newest team into the Vertex community: Vertex - Stinson Edition. Team Stinson have been long-time friends and worthy adverseries in TF2 matches, so inviting them into the Vertex stable was a bit of a no-brainer. I hope that the move will offer them more stability for their team and assist them with playing at the best level they can.

Vertex - Stinson Edition lineup:

Netherlands ThePledge (CL)
Netherlands Comedian
Denmark Dusty
Finland Pena
Wales Sigh
Ireland Paging Dr Lupus
The7alfa

Really glad to have you with us guys smiling It's gonne be fun! I'll leave Pledge to write an exciting news post with more words soon, as I know he is itching to do so!
